In August, join us for a learning opportunity to explore The Kumulipo, the Hawaiian understanding of the world as interconnected and intimate across all forms of being and nature. Confirmed speakers include:
Kekuhi Kealiʻikanakaole, an educator who has trained in the tradition of Hula ʻAihaʻa and Hula Pele chant and ritual and was ritually elevated to the status of Kumu Hula (hula master) of Hālau o Kekuhi by her mother, Kumu Hula Pualani Kanahele, and her aunt, Kumu Hula Nalani Kanakaʻole. One of Kekuhi’s passions is strengthening the relationship between Hawaiʻi ecological wisdom and scientific wisdom. Kekuhi served as Senior Scholar at The Kohala Center for 20 years. She works with some of Hawaiʻi’s most passionate committed conservation and restoration organizations, individuals and initiatives. Kekuhi continues to facilitate ways of improving how Hawaiʻi consciousness can work in harmony with science and technology consciousness for the wellbeing of Hawaiʻi and the world.
Leahi Hall, who is Kāko‘o for Hālau ʻŌhi‘a, which utilizes Lonoa Honua to connect people, places, and energies in the universe to one another through Hawai‘i life ways. Leahi is a graduate of Pūnana Leo and Kula Kaiapuni ‘o Maui Hawaiian language immersion programs. She received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University where she competed for a two-time Womenʻs Volleyball National Champion team. Leahi earned a doctorate with honors from Pepperdine University studying leadership, change, belonging and systems theory.
