Community Geography: The concept of community is scalable from the global to the local. It includes our physical communities, our human communities, our cyber communities, and the interrelationships between those as seen from the geographer’s perspective. Increasingly, we also encourage and incorporate the notion of “citizen science” – the multi-directional pathways of the shared experience of connecting places, citizens, and scientists through “new” methods like crowdsourcing, thus enabling the compilation of observations from our backyards to the corners of our planet, from the everyday routines that still surprise us with fresh insights, to unusual adventures that enlighten our unwitting ignorance.
Geography Education Community: To actively encourage participation, registration fees for middle and high school teachers will be waived.
Any NESTVAL members interested in participating in the AP Human Geography Workshop following the conference, please concact Bob Amey ramey [at] bridgew [dot] edu. Consider: what you would most like middle or high school students to know about the world of geography!
