There’s more to Hamburg than the port and musicals. It’s also on its way to becoming a digital city, and smart geodata is key to achieving this. This year’s conference during INTERGEO is also devoted to the concept of the Smart City. International speakers will be giving presentations on the subject, but also on other key topics such as BIM and big data. These are all political and thus social issues, too, which will significantly affect our field in the future. Mobility, the energy supply, climate protection, and liveable cities and rural areas are all fields where solutions are being sought.
Citizen participation, data protection, data security and e-government will play a key role in future developments.
By taking “Smart City” as a key topic, INTERGEO 2016 is focusing on a multi-faceted issue that will shape the future. The preview of the leading international event for the geospatial community in Hamburg was attended by renowned experts from industry, science and public authorities. During their discussions, all were agreed that cities must and will become more intelligent – not because that is a natural consequence of digitalisation, but because it benefits society. Intelligent geodata is a crucial prerequisite for any such development.
All this will be under the spotlight at INTERGEO. The conference and trade fair are the platforms where the geodesy, geoinformation and land management sectors come together in all their variety and share information and ideas. It’s not to be missed. Come along and join in!
