Dale A. Quattrochi, a geographer and senior research scientist at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL, is the recipient of The Helmut Landsberg Award given by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) at the society’s annual meeting held in Phoenix, AZ,  on January 4-8, 2015. He along with his NASA colleague, Jeffrey Luvall, were presented this award by the AMS “For original contributions and leadership in using high-resolution thermal remote sensing data to understand the urban heat island effect and its environmental consequences.” The award recognizes the research that has been conducted jointly by Drs. Quattrochi and Luvall for over 30 years. Dr. Quattrochi has been an AAG member since 1972.
